Enjoyable stay, but a couple of glitches that were not well handled.
We enjoyed the unit and the pool serving the complex was well maintained and a comfortable temperature. Unit decor is very much minimalist-midcentury but we knew that from available pics and chose it. Location is close to central Palm Springs but all attractions require transportation. We had chosen not to rent a car and found Ubers readily available and quite satisfactory. The only close restaurant has excellent (BIG) breakfasts (all day) but we did not try dinner and chose to mostly eat in using the adequate kitchen. (Ralph's market about 1/2 mile walk away; burger bar there as well)
There were problems with the Ocotilla complex (not our specific unit). We returned, by Uber, at midday from a hot canyon hike to find the gate code to the complex (which we had been using for several days) not working, leaving us, overheated, dehydrated, and in need of facilities, now locked out on the street on a !00+ degree day. (Guests by the pool did not hear our cries for help but we were saved by a service person trying to make his daily round to the complex who managed to jimmy a latch.) Although this affected many guests, here was no warning and no notice after the fact. We notified our unit mgr (Ryson) but it was many hours before we had a functional code, and learned that only from other guests/residents. On our departure day, the water taps suddenly went dry at mid-morning. Again, no warning or notice. Word around the pool was that a leak was discovered in the incoming water supply so all was shut off. Fortunately we had showered earlier and checked out by 10 so did not have to endure the waterless period (hours, days?) that others would have.
